Vintage Description:
After a dry winter, intense rainfall in spring and then in September, coupled with low temperatures, caused delay of maturation, so we had to wait to begin the harvest some more time than usual. In this season, phenolic maturity was excellent but incomplete the sugar maturity,with high acidity values that were corrected in the winemaking process thanks to the high potassium level contained in the grapes. In Viñedos y Bodegas Gormaz, due to the great variety of soils, orientations and microclimates of our different estates we were able to obtain an excellent crop for our best wines, highly tannic and colour, perfect for a long aging.

Wine Making:
Grape selection since estates, vineyard´s age and maturation degree. Previous to the fermentation the grapes are macerated for 3 days at a temperature of 4- 6ºC in order to get the full extraction of aromas. Fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28ºC for 10 days. After the fermentation process the wine is macerated for 2 weeks in order to complete the extraction of the polyphenols. After the malolactic fermentation done in new French Oak barrels the wine is aging in French (70%) and American (30%) Oak barrels, new (70%) and first use for 24 months, being then rounded in the bottle for at least 12 months.

Tasting:
Colour:Cherry red, intense and brilliant.
Nose: Complex and elegant, predominating red and black fruits with balsamic notes.
Palate: Silky, greasy, sweety and full palate, ripe tannins and intense balsamic and roasted coffee notes.
Recommended with: Hunting dishes, roasted meats and very mature cheeses.
