Winery:
Founded in 1988, the Bodegas Valdelacierva Winery is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta (Upper Rioja) Winegrowing Region in the picturesque town of Navarrete. The soils in which our vineyards are planted and the climate in which our grapes grow are characteristic of the area. Most of our vineyards are planted on small plots and their vines are 25-40 years old in sandy loam and clay loam soils, with the remainder (more than 40 years old) planted on large non-irrigated plots of alluvial soils close to rivers and full of pebbles, which help control humidity when the vines are under greatest stress due to water deprivation. These soil characteristics, help to produce young wines of great vigour and freshness which, once they have been aged, provide refined, smooth top-quality aged and vintage wines.
Wine Making:
Grapes selection by plots and ripeness degree in hand picked harvest. Before the fermentation, grapes are macerated for 3 days at 12ºC in order to obtain the full extraction of aromas. Fermentation at a controlled temperature of 22 – 25 ºC. First bottling date March 2013.
